Le'Sandra Turner Becomes Seventh Player to Reach 1,000 Points, Women's Basketball Falls to Jefferson

PHILADELPHIA, Penn. – Graduate point guard Le'Sandra Turner reached the 1,000-point milestone and graduate shooting guard Maya Klein poured in team-high 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting with two three-pointers, but a big second quarter for sixth nationally-ranked Jefferson University would down Post University Women's Basketball on Saturday, 74-53, giving the Eagles their second conference loss of the season.

THE BASICS

Post University 53, #6/#9 Jefferson University 74

Post University (9-7, 4-2 CACC)

#6/#9 Jefferson University (17-1, 7-0 CACC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
When Klein opened the game with one of her two three-pointers of the game, that would be the lone lead of the afternoon for Post, 3-2, in the opening minute. Following a layup from junior guard Sam Yencha over a minute and a half later, Jefferson would lead throughout the remainder of the game despite numerous early attempts by Post to get back into the game.

The ultimate difference maker would be the second quarter in which the Rams outscored the Eagles, 22-7, largely due to a shooting slump from Post which saw them go just 3-for-16 from the floor and 1-for-9 from three-point range. Trailing only 25-20, a 7-0 run which featured four points from senior guard Morgan Robinson gave Jefferson their first double-digit lead of the game which they would never relinquish. The lead would balloon to 21 points heading into the halftime break, 45-24, after freshman guard Emily Spratt's three with eight seconds left.

The Rams would coast through the second half, never letting their lead drop below 16 points but also tying the Eagles in points overall with 29 apiece. Overall in the second half, Post would go 13-for-30 from the field (43.3%) while hitting 2-of-5 threes compared to an 11-of-26 (42.3%) half for Jefferson who had no threes to their name over the final 20 minutes.

Post did outrebound Jefferson by a slim 39-36 margin but would only have two players in double figures in Klein with 17 points and graduate guard Trinity Bravo with 10 points on 5-of-14 shooting. Yencha had a game-high 21 points and 13 rebounds to register a double-double for the Rams while senior forward Haley Meinel and Spratt both scored 12 points apiece and junior guard Emma Kuczynski added 10 points in the effort.
