MIDDLEBURY, Conn. -- Post University Women's Tennis saw their five-game winning streak come to a close at home on Friday afternoon at the hands of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference defending champion Wilmington University, 6-1. Playing at Edgewood Tennis and Bath for the fourth time this season, the Eagles remained competitive in all nine matches played on Friday, but were unable to overcome the Wildcats and extend their winning streak.

THE BASICS
Post University 1, Wilmington University 6

Post University (5-2, 2-1 CACC)

Wilmington University (2-0, 2-0 CACC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
The five-game doubles streak for junior Nina Langenfeld and graduate student Julia D'Occhio ended in the #3 Doubles as senior Larize Nel and junior Kushi Khandoji quickly swept through the duo, 6-0, while graduate student Valentina Ivankovic and senior Jess Purdy were not far behind in solidifying the first team point of the day for Wilmington as they dispatched of junior Megan Lombardt and sophomore Micaela Rosignuolo, 6-2, in the #1 Singles

In a highly competitive and intense matchup, graduate student Annunciata De-Souza and sophomore Natalia Gonzalez Ramos battled with junior Fenna Swaan and sophomore Gloria Barcaro in a match that would end up going into an electric tiebreaker. Both sides woudl continously exchange points back and forth with neither allowing the other to pull ahead by two points for the victory. Eventually the Wildcat duo would outlast De-Souza and Gonzalez Ramos, taking the #2 Doubles,7-6, with the tiebreaker going 8-6.

De-Souza would help the Eagles get on the scoreboard first in the #2 Singles as she took care of business against Khandoji in two sets, 6-3 and 6-2, to remain undefeated this season in singles play. From there, it would be all Wilmington the remainder of the way as Langenfeld would be unable to battle from behind against Ivankovic in the #3 Singles, falling 6-4 and 6-2, while senior Oceane Mallevre was defeated by sophomore Alva Norberg, 7-5 and 6-2, in the #4 Singles.

Despite leading early in both sets of the #5 Singles match, Gonzalez Ramos would also fall against junior Marley Trifunovic in identical 6-3 sets as was the case in the #1 Singles in which Rosignuolo dropped her matchup against Purdy. Rounding out the day in the #6 Singles would be D'Occhio against Swaan, a match that would see Swaan take a pair of sets by scores of 6-2 and 6-1.
