WATERBURY, Conn. -- Coming off of a 3-0 sweep against Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponents Caldwell University, Post University's Women's Volleyball returned to the Drubner Center tonight to host the Dominican University Chargers in their third CACC match up of the season. After leading the first set up until the very end, the Chargers were able to pull ahead to take the first frame before taking a 2-0 lead before the Eagles snagged a set of their own to make it 2-1, however, Dominican was able to put the Eagles away in four after sealing the win with a 25-20 final set victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Post came out of the gates hot, earning five straight points before the Chargers were able to get on the board thanks to a pair of kills followed by three consecutive aces from
Tamara Radovanov to give the Eagles an early advantage. The hosts remained in the drivers seat until the Chargers were able to knot it up at 12 before the Eagles reclaimed their lead with a trio of points, however, Dominican answered back to even out the score once again, this time at 15-all. Although, Post stifled the offensive drive of their guests, holding on to the lead until the 22nd point where the Chargers took their first advantage of the game, 23-22. Dominican then used their momentum to grab the final two points and close out the first set, 25-22.Â
In the second set, the Chargers jumped out to an early 13-3 lead before the Eagles had a five-point rally to cut their deficit to five (13-8). However, Dominican did not hold back, taking the 2-0 lead after a quick 25-12 second set win.Â
While Dominican was the first to score in the third set, the Eagles swiftly turned the tables to grab an eight-point lead (10-2) thanks to a pair of kills from
Caley Harper followed by a trio of blocks from the brick-wall pair of Harper and
Kaitlyn Lemmon. Post went on to stretch their lead, recording seven more tallies broken up by one Charger point (17-4). The Chargers attempted to close out the match in three as they were able to reach double digits (10-22) before the Eagles brought down the hammer to take their first set of the night, 25-10 (1-2).Â
In the fourth set, both squads ping-ponged points before the Chargers took a slight advantage (8-5) but the Eagles bounced back, going on a five-point run including three aces from
Alyssa Groves to snatch the 10-8 edge. However, Dominican was able to tie it up before going ahead 17-12 thanks to back to back kills. The Eagles made every effort to close the gap, however, the Chargers pressed on to seal the eventual 3-1 win (25-20).
BY THE NUMBERS
- Caley Harper earned a career-high four blocks while notching her fifth consecutive double-digit kill game and her second double-digit dig game in her last three
- Kaitlyn Lemmon had a career-tying-high five total blocks in tonight's match up.Â
- Overall, against the Chargers the Eagles have been 29-12 with a home record of 16-5.Â
WHO'S NEXT
The Post University Eagles continue conference play on Wednesday, September 27 when they hit the road, traveling to Bridgeport, Connecticut to square up against the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights at 7:00 PM. Overall, the Eagles are 1-15 against the Purple Knights with their one win being on Bridgeport's home court.Â
