HOW IT HAPPENED
For only just the second time this season, the Eagles would not be able to sweep the doubles as junior
Megan Lombardt and sophomore
Micaela Rosignuolo dropped their first match as a duo in their last eight outings together, 7-6, in the #1 Doubles against juniors Noor Goyvaerts and Elena Baughman Saunders.
However, the team point still went to Post for the sixth time in as many matches with sophomore
Natalia Gonzalez Ramos and graduate student
Annunciata De-Souza getting back on track after their doubles loss the other day with a 6-3 take down of freshman Alice Fartushynska and senior Camilla Caballero Abreu. Winning their fifth straight match as a duo this year, graduate student
Julia D'Occhio and junior
Nina Langenfeld dispatched of freshman Isabella Fortaleza and junior Maggie Kutner with ease in the #3 Doubles, winning 6-1.
It was a sweep for the Eagles in the singles across the board as Rosignuolo was victorious for the fourth straight time in singles this year, winning 6-1 and 6-4 over Caballero Abreu in the #1 Singles. A straight sweep was in order for Gonzalez Ramos in the #4 Singles with back-to-back 6-0 wins over Farushynka which Lombardt nearly did the same against Fortaleza in the #6 Singles with 6-1 and 6-0 victories.
Rounding out the sweep would be senior
Oceane Mallevre with identical 6-3 set wins over Baughman Saunders in the #3 Singles while identical 6-2 set wins by D'Occhio against Kutner in the #5 Singles would do the job. The toughest matchup of the singles would come in the #2 Singles as Langenfeld would be taken to three sets by Goyvaerts after a first set sweep.
The two would go into a tiebreaker in set two in which Goyvaerts would tie things up with a 7-6 win before the 10-point tiebreaker swung in favor of Langenfeld, 10-8, capping off her fourth singles win of the season and the 7-0 sweep for the Eagles who notched their fifth consecutive win and third sweep of the year.
