Sweepin' with Cedrine! Women's Tennis Earns Second Sweep of Season, Starts Season at 3-1

MIDDLEBURY, Conn. -- If there was one word to describe Post University Women's Tennis since their season opening loss to Assumption University at home, it would be dominant. The Eagles once again took care of business on their home court at Edgewood Bath and Tennis in Middlebury, Connecticut on Sunday afternoon against D'Youville University, 7-0, highlighted by junior Cedrine Adam's first Singles win of the year, to move to 3-1 on the young season, the best record among fall sports teams at Post thus far.

THE BASICS
Post University 7, D'Youville University 0

Post University (3-1)

D'Youville University (0-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Coming into the match, the Eagles already led 1-0 overall in team score as D'Youville only had five players, giving Post University the #6 Singles by default as well as the #3 Doubles by default which meant they would only need to take one Doubles match to earn a second team point.

But Post would not be satisfied with just one point as graduate student Julia D'Occhio and junior Nina Langenfeld teamed up for the fourth time this season and first time in the #2 Doubles, earning their third win together with a 6-3 win over sophomore Paola Ermina and freshman Maria Campisi to solidify that aforementioned second team point.

Winners of their fourth straight #1 Doubles match this year together, junior Megan Lombardt and sophomore Micaela Rosignuolo gutted out at 6-4 victory over junior Yuliia Kashtelian and senior Khushi Agarwal to give Post all three Doubles matches.

With a Singles match already in tow and the Doubles point secured, just two matches were needed for the Eagles to win their third straight game. They would get their first one in the #4 Singles as Lombardt quickly dispatches of Ermina in two sets, 6-1 and 6-2, and a short while later get the team win with D'Occhio's 6-1 and 6-3 set wins in the #3 Singles over Campisi.

Sophomore Natalia Gonzalez Ramos would be the next Eagle to take care of business in the #2 Singles with 6-3 and 6-1 set wins against Agarwal and in a dogfight in the #1 Singles, senior Oceane Mallevre defeated Kashtelian in a third set tiebreaker to 10 points, 10-6, after both players split the first two sets, 6-4.

With all eyes on court five, it would be Adam clinching the sweep in her first appearance and first Singles match of the year in comeback fashion. After falling 7-6 in a tiebreak to sophomore Yelizaveta Prokopenko, Adam stormed back for a dominant 6-2 win in set two and delivered the finishing blow with a 10-3 win in the tiebreaker before being swarmed by her teammates as the Eagles finished the 7-0 sweep over the Saints.
