Women's Tennis Starts Confence Play with Big Win Over Goldey-Beacom

WILMINGTON, Del. -- The upward trend for Post University Women's Tennis continues on as for just the third time in program history, the Eagles took down Goldey-Beacom College on the road on Saturday, 5-2, for their second straight win over the Lightning and their first conference victory of the season.

THE BASICS
Post University 5, Goldey-Beacom College 2

Post University (2-1, 1-0 CACC)

Goldey-Beacom College (1-1, 0-1 CACC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
It was another clean sweep in the Doubles for Post University, their second in three matches this season as the duo of junior Megan Lombardt and Micaela Rosignuolo won their third doubles match of the year as a duo against sophomore Zehra Canbaz and junior Elizabeth Mova, 6-2. Also starting the year 3-0 in Doubles was the #2 Doubles duo in graduate student Annunciata De-Souza and sophomore Natalia Gonzalez Ramos who picked up a 7-5 victory against sophomore Nahomi Quinonez and junior Macy Hendin-Walker, securing the crucial doubles point for the Eagles.

Graduate student Julia D'Occhio and junior Nina Langenfeld also made quick work in the #3 Doubles for the Eagles as they took down sophomore Asli Kundak and junior Lisa-Marie Roussignol, 6-2, to cap off the doubles sweep.

Needing just three wins in the singles to secure victory, the Eagles would get four instead as Rosignuolo took her second consecutive singles match, playing in the #1 slot and defeating Mova in three sets, 6-2, 0-6, and winning the deciding set, 6-4.

Picking up her seventh consecutive singles win dating back to last year, it was De-Souza in the #2 Singles taking a near-perfect sweep over Canbaz with scores of 6-0 and 6-1. Langenfeld would nearly do the same in the #3 Singles over Hendin-Walker as sets of 6-1 and 6-2 would help clinch the fourth point the Eagles needed for the conference victory. However, Gonzalez Ramos would tack on another win for good measure in the #5 Singles with a 6-3 and 6-2 win over Roussignol.

The lone two match wins for the Lightning would come in the #4 and #6 Singles from Quinonez in three sets over senior Oceane Mallevre by scores of 6-2 and 7-5 while losing the second set, 6-3. THe #6 Singles would go to sophomore Elina Mukhamadeeva who defeated D'Occhio, 6-2 and 6-4.
