WATERBURY, Conn. – Post University's Women's Soccer team invited the Wilmington University Wildcats to their home turf to kick off Conference action as the rivalry battled it out for 90 minutes before the Eagles fell to their guests, 2-4. After heading into the break at a 1-1 stalemate, the Wildcats turned it up a notch, scoring two goals to Post's one in the second half before Wilmington net a final second goal after taking advantage of an empty net to seal the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Wilmington got off to a hot start as they were the first to get on the board just under the ten minute mark (9:53) after capitalizing on a penalty kick to take the early 1-0 edge. The Wildcats continued to pound the net, getting four more shots off, however, Post's Amber McGee knotted it up at 32:35 thanks to a beautiful feed from teammate Alyssa Hebb before the squads held each other at bay to enter the break, 1-1.
In the second half, the Eagles were the first to get a shot off from Hailey McGee just 44 seconds after the whistle blew but they were unable to penetrate the net. A few minutes later, Wilmington attempted to use a corner kick to gain the advantage but Aryn Nisbet quickly shut it down in goal to keep the score frozen. It wasn't until 68:59 where the Wildcats were able to take the lead thanks to another penalty kick (2-1).
Wilmington was able to extend their lead with another tally at the 72:44 mark (3-1), however less than a minute later, the Eagles retaliated with a goal of their own by Tassia Ferreira to make it a one-goal game, 2-3. With 32 ticks on the clock, Post put all their efforts into utilizing a last minute corner kick to tie it up, bringing Nisbet out of net as she was able to get a shot off her foot before the Wildcats stole the ball to earn a breakaway goal in the remaining seconds to take the 4-2 victory.

The Eagles have a week off before they see the turf again when they travel to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for their second CACC match-up of the season against another rival, Jefferson University on Saturday, September 23 at noon. On the road, Post is currently 0-9 against the Rams and 3-13-1 overall.
