WATERBURY, Conn. -- After putting on the Post Eagles Invitational this past weekend, Post University's Women's Volleyball kicked off Conference action tonight as they hosted the Bloomfield College Bears for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match-up where the Eagles clobbered last year's CACC regular season champs and tournament runner-up with a 3-0 sweep (25-21, 25-18, 25-17).

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bears jumped out to an early 11-7 edge, however, the home squad quickly battled back to knot it up at 11 before eventually taking the lead 13-12 thanks to a kill from
Colleen Romero followed by an ace from
Alyssa Groves. The Eagles continued to dominate the court to take the first set, 25-21 topped off by another towering kill from Romero.
In the second set, Bloomfield's Lauryn Hansford rattled off three aces to start the Bear's off 3-0 before Post could get on the board after a trio of kills before
Hannah Brandt finished the rally with an ace to take the 4-3 advantage. The hosts went on extend their lead to five before closing out the second set, 25-18.
The final frame started with a tradeoff between teams before the Eagles eventually pulled ahead 8-4 after a kill off of the hot hands of
Caley Harper. With their first win and sweep in sight, the Eagles turned it up a notch, gaining a double-digit lead (22-11) after a four-point run. At the match point, the Bears attempted to claw their way into a fourth set as they went on a four-point rally before the Eagles locked in their first 3-0 victory after Harper brought the hammer down with a kill to seal the win.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Junior Caley Harper had a career-high 16 kills with an attack percentage of .371.
- The Eagles earned their first win and sweep of the young season.
- This is the first time since 2018 that the Eagles have beaten Bloomfield College.
WHO'S NEXT
The Post University Eagles will hit the court again this Friday, September 15 as they travel to New Haven, Connecticut for a non-conference battle against the Southern Connecticut State University Owls at 3:00 PM. Overall, the Eagles are 5-15 against the Owls, being 3-8 on the road.
