Philadelphia, Pa – The Post University women's basketball team will be playing its first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship game after a late basket from Kiara Eubanks lifted the Eagles to a 60-57 win over Holy Family University in the semifinals on Saturday on the campus of Thomas Jefferson University.
The Eagles will take on CACC North rival Dominican on Sunday at noon at Jefferson University. A win for the Eagles would give them an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament for the first time.
In a tightly contested game throughout, the Tigers took a 57-54 lead with 3:07 remaining in the game after a jumper from Ava Morrow. After Post missed on their next possession, Morrow was fouled sending her to the line for two free throws and missed both.
The Eagles grabbed the rebound off the miss and Eubanks was fouled and went to the line and sunk two free throws to make it a 57-56 game. With the Eagles needing a stop, the Tigers missed two shots from Moe Moore and Skyler Seafross and Eubanks grabbed the rebound with 24 seconds remaining.
After a timeout from the Eagles and the season on the line, Sha'Raya Haines dribbled down the clock and drove to her left taking a tough floater that didn't hit the rim, but Eubanks was on the other side of the hoop, grabbed the ball and fought off Seafross who was grabbing her left arm and threw the ball off the backboard and in while getting fouled, giving the Eagles a 58-57 lead with 3.9 seconds remaining. Eubanks made the free throw to make it a two-point lead.
The Tigers would call a timeout and advanced the ball to halfcourt. On the inbound, Tijane Simmons stole the ball and was fouled was 0.2 seconds left. She sank one free throw and the Tigers could not get another shot off, sending the Eagles to the CACC Championship.
It was the third straight season the Eagles made the semifinals, and the win exacted revenge on a 2019-2020 semifinal loss to Holy Family.
Post is now 21-10 on the season, the second most wins in program history.
At the start of the game, the Eagles took control early, never trailing in the first quarter, leading by as much as seven points at 16-9 after five straight points from Haines gave them a 16-9 lead with 3:12 remaining. The Eagles took an 18-13 lead at the quarter behind seven points from Haines and Tyree Allen. Post shot 7-for-14 from the field in the quarter.

The Tigers responded with a 17-4 run and took a 33-29 lead after an intentional foul on the Eagles turned into a four-point possession for the Tigers. A jumper and two free throws from Jailah White in the final 1:30 tied the game at 33-33 going into the half.
Holy Family took a 41-35 lead at the 5:36 mark of the third as the Eagles started 1-for-7 from the field to start the quarter.
