Baseball Comes Back From Five Run Deficit, But Loses To STAC.

Miami Shores, FL. - The Post University came back from an early five-run deficit, but lost 10-6 to Saint Thomas Aquinas College (STAC) on Saturday afternoon on the campus of Barry University.

Post is now 7-9 on the season, while STAC moves to 5-5.

The Spartans got off to a hot start in the first two innings, scoring two times in the top of the first, followed by three more in the second on a three-run homer from C.J. Cumbo.

Post returned the favor, scoring two in the bottom of the second, with one run coming on an RBI single from Chris Corchado that scored Robert Olah, who ripped a ground-rule double to centerfield with one out in the inning. Corchado scored on a balk to make it a 5-2 game.

The Eagles tied the game in the bottom of the third as back-to-back doubles from DJ Caron and Jimmy Brennan made it a 5-3 game. After Brennan advanced to third on a groundout, Olah unleashed a two-run moonshot to dead centerfield over the batter's eye to tie the game, 5-5. It was Olah's second homer of the season.

The Spartans took the lead back in the top of the fourth and two more in the top of the sixth to make it a 9-5 game.

Post had an opportunity for a big inning in the bottom of the fifth, loading the bases with no outs, but were unable to score.

The two teams exchanged runs in the seventh as Danny Gill had a sacrifice fly to score Michael Pavelchak.

Caron was 3-for-5 with a run. Olah was 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Dan Ragelivich pitched four innings, striking out six, giving up six earned runs. Matt Goehrig pitched 4.1 innings in relief, striking out four, allowing just two earned runs.

Cumbo finished with four RBI for STAC.

Up next, the Eagles take on Adelphi at 4 p.m. at Barry University on Sunday.
