HOW IT HAPPENED
A strong opening period for Albertus Magnus saw them pepper sophomore goalie
Benjamin Cunneen with 20 total shots on net. Cunneen, who was making his first start of the season, would let one through with 5:21 remaining in the first as the initial shot by sophomore forward Tim Manning found the stick of freshman defenseman Eric Chamandy. Chamandy would locate fellow freshman defenseman William Lavigne at the top left circle, and he would get it by Cunneen, giving the Falcons a 1-0 lead after one as well as a 20-11 advantage in shots on goal.
A seven-minute span in the second would define the entire rest of the game as Albertus Magnus struck for three goals against Cunneen. Freshman forward Charles Lavoie and senior forward Gustav Miller located freshman forward Jeremy Tremblay on the open left side of the net just 3:03 after the intermission. Chamandy and Lavigne would reverse roles from the first goal of the game as the two passed it back and forth on the left side before Chamandy's point shot went through traffic into the corner of the net.
The third and final goal of the second would be off the stick of junior forward Sam Anderson on the power play for Albertus Magnus. The initial shot in front bounced around to find the sticks of graduate defenseman Harley Michaels and sophomore defenseman Sam Witt who picked up the assists as the Falcons extended their lead to four, 4-0.
While graduate defenseman
Nick Brewer would register the lone goal of the game for the Eagles in the third off a faceoff win from sophomore forward Connor Murray, Albertus Magnus would add four more goals from junior forward Zane Kindrachuk, senior forward Gustav Miller, sophomore forward Bailey Kirwin, and Charles Lavoie to cap off their 8-1 win.
