HOW IT HAPPENED
SNHU grabbed the edge early on after capitalizing on a pair of free throws 37 ticks after tip-off (2-0), but Post swiftly tied it up at 2-2, 4-4, 8-8, and 10-10 before the Penmen hit one from behind the arc to catalyze a 10-point rally broken up by an Eagle basket to make it 20-12 topped off by a Penmen three just under the halfway mark.
With the remaining time in the first, Post came within three (20-17) after two good free throws from
Deng Deang. However, SNHU was able to grab their biggest lead of the game so far (27-17) with 8:09 remaining. The Eagles soon came within a basket after
Bol Akot sunk one from downtown to bring the score to 27-29 before eventually taking their first edge of the game with 3:35 on the clock (32-31) thanks to another basket from Akot. However, SNHU regained the advantage 23 seconds later with a jumper before ending the first half with a three-point lead, 42-39.
After 20 minutes of action, both squads led six times, including five ties. While the Penmen reached a double-digit lead with their largest margin being ten (27-17), Post was only able to secure their largest lead of one point (32-31).
The Eagles were quick to knot it up at 42-all thanks to a three from
Robert Sanders but the Penmen were able to hang on to their edge before taking their second double-digit lead of the game, 56-46 after another basket from three-point land. It wasn't until 9:31 remaining in regulation when the Eagles came within three (60-63) after a layup in the paint from Deang but SNHU started to pull away once again, taking their biggest lead of the game, 74-63 with 4:13 to go. Post attempted to cut their deficit, however, it wasn't enough as they took the eventual 82-76 loss.
Overall, the Penmen finished the battle with a 43.1 field goal percentage compared to Post's 38.2 percent. Meanwhile, SNHU was able to hold the lead 88.5 percent of the time, while the Eagles led the game 3.1 percent of the time.
