Football Season Comes to Close with Loss on the Road to Wagner

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Looking to end their season on a high note, Post University Football went down to Staten Island to take on a Division I opponent in Wagner College on Saturday afternoon to close things out. 28 unanswered points in the first two quarters for the Seahawks would prove to be enough to push them past the Eagles, as they would go on to win, 48-21, in the final game for both teams' seasons.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Another hefty day for the opposition's run game would spearhead the Seahawks throughout the afternoon as 261 total rushing yards spread among four different backs led to five total touchdowns for Wagner. Sophomore running back Zachary Palmer-Smith paced the offense with 128 total rushing yards and two touchdowns, one of which coming in the first half on a three-yard run and a 28-yard spring in the second half.

Junior running back Rickey Spruill was the other 100-yard rusher with 113 total yards on the ground and three touchdowns, all of which would come in the first half to help Wagner take a 35-7 lead into the halftime locker room. The lone touchdown of the first half would come from sophomore quarterback Malakai Taylor, who made his first collegiate start as an Eagle, as he hit sophomore wide receiver Josh Tracey with a 23-yard touchdown grab. Sophomore wide receivers Isaiah Rush and Jermaine Tillery would be on the receiving end of Taylor's other two touchdown on the afternoon.

Taylor would finish the day 20-for-26 passing with 238 yards in the air and three touchdowns while throwing just one pick and being sacked twice. On the ground, Taylor would run the ball 17 times for 13 total yards while the Eagles' rushing attack as a whole totaled up just 67 yards.

Graduate quarterback Steven Krajewski threw the ball just 11 times for Wagner, completing nine passes for 144 yards and two touchdowns. Those would be corralled by junior wide receiver Guenson Alexis and Spruill for the other two scores of the day for the Seahawks, as the Eagles dropped their final game of the season, 48-21.
