Women's Volleyball Season Comes to Close in CACC Quarterfinals Against Jefferson

PHILADELPHIA, Penn. – A season of highs and lows for Post University Women's Volleyball came to a close on Tuesday evening in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Quarterfinals as the North Division's fourth-seeded Eagles fell in straight sets to South Division's top-seeded Jefferson University, 3-0.

This was the second time this year in which the Rams swept Post in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, doing it back on October 21st in similar fashion and relatively similar scoring margins.

THE BASICS

Post University 0, Jefferson University 3

Post University (8-24)

Jefferson University (18-10)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Coming out of the gate, the Eagles would take a quick 3-0 lead as junior outside hitter Kaila Sandy registered a kill and then back-to-back service aces to start the match. An ensuing 7-0 run by Jefferson would put them back in front as they capitalized on five Post errors and two kills from junior outside hitter Jess Molen. The Eagles would commit a total of 10 errors in the first set, hitting at -.049 and despite a .194 hitting percentage from the Rams, they would outscore Post, 14-3, after the Eagles came back to tie the set up at 11, to win it, 25-14.

Another fast start for Post saw senior setter Izabella Rae get back-to-back service aces to make it a 2-0 set, before three of the 10 second set errors the Eagles would commit helped lead to a 5-0 run for Jefferson to go ahead, 5-2. Never allowing Post, who had a -.108 hitting percentage in the frame, to get within more than two points, the Rams cruised to another double-digit set victory, 25-15, behind a .229 hitting percentage as a team.

While able to limit the errors in what would end up being the third and final set of their season, Post would never be able to pull even with the Rams after they took the lead, trimming their deficit to one point on four occasions. Leading 12-11, Jefferson would put their foot on the gas in their best set of the match, attacking to the tune of a .321 hitting percentage, en route to a 25-17 third set win and a spot in the CACC Semifinals. The Rams would finish the match having a .245 hitting percentage compared to -.018 for the Eagles and committed only 11 errors as opposed to 27 errors by Post.
