WATERBURY, Conn. -- Taking a break from conference action tonight, Post University's Women's Volleyball hosted the Daemen University Wildcats for a Friday night bout where the Eagles were ultimately overcome by their guests, 0-3. The last time Post beat Daemen was back in 2015 with a 3-0 sweep in New Haven, Connecticut.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Wildcats come out firing, smacking down the first kill of the game with an immediate attack from an over to take the 1-0 edge before a
Caley Harper kill got the point back for the Eagles. The visitors started to pull away, grabbing a five-point lead (7-3) but Post creeped back up to lock the score up at eight thanks to another smashing Harper kill. However, the Eagles were unable to surpass the Wildcats as Daemen went on to earn six points broken up by one harper kill to keep their five-point lead, 14-9. The Wildcats' lead was yet to be relinquished as they extended their margin before closing out the set with a trio of kills (25-17).
In the second set, Daemen jumped out to a 7-2 advantage topped off by three services aces in a row before the Eagles answered back with a five-point rally including kills from
Hannah Brandt and
Colleen Romero to knot it up 7-7. The squads traded points until a Maria Branco ace gave the Eagles their first edge of the game, 12-11 until a three kill streak propelled the Wildcats to a six-point run to make it 18-13. The Eagles attempted to come back as back-to-back kills from
Kaitlyn Lemmon and Romero brought the Eagles within three points but the Wildcats stayed hot, taking the second set, 25-16.
Daemen opened up the third set with three consecutive aces with a kill mixed in to take the early 4-0 edge before eventually going up 10-4. The Wildcats continued to command the court until Harper broke up the Wildcats' flow with a kill followed by Radovanov to come within five (9-14). However, it wasn't enough as Daemen sealed the sweep with a 25-15 final set victory.

- Caley Harper notched her tenth consecutive double-digit kill game, finishing the match with a tying game-high 10 kills
- The last time Post played Daemen was back in 2018 when the Eagles fell to their guests 0-3, however, Post has beaten Daemen once in their four times of competing which was in 2015 when they swept the Wildcats, 3-0.
WHO'S NEXT
Post University Volleyball returns to CACC action on Wednesday, October 11 when they travel to Bloomfield, New Jersey to face the Bloomfield Bears at 7:00 PM. Almost exactly a month ago, the Eagles overpowered the Bears, sweeping Bloomfield at the Drubner Center, 3-0 which marked the Eagles' first CACC win of the season.
