HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lightning were able to seal the first point of the match, however, the Eagles immediately shut them down with a seven-point run highlighted by five kills in a row to make it 7-1 early on. The hosts were trying to keep up with Post, trading points before the Eagles continued to extend their lead, grabbing a nine-point advantage (16-7) topped off by a service ace from
Lynnise Castillo. Refusing to back down, the Eagles continued to dominate the court, ultimately securing the first-set victory, 25-14.
In the second set, Post made sure to take the initial lead once again thanks to a trio of aces from
Hannah Brandt (5-1). However, the Lightning were able to creep back into the game as they tied it up at seven-all, but Post was able to hold the lead before Goldey-Beacom knotted it up once again at 9-9. A few points later, the Eagles flipped the script to take total control as they rallied for seven points to regain a sizeable eight-point lead (18-10). Meanwhile, the Lightning attempted to battle back on Post's match-point, coming within three (21-24) after a trio of points before a towering kill from
Kaila Sandy earned her squad the second set, 25-21.
The Eagles wasted no time in locking in the CACC victory as they started off the third set with an ace from
Tamara Radovanov which catalyzed a scoring spree as Post led 12-4. Goldey-Beacom was able to steal a few points, however, the Eagles showed no mercy before taking the 3-0 sweep.
