WATERBURY, Conn. -- It was not the way Post University Women's Tennis hoped to get into the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, but nonetheless the Eagles will live to see another day in the hunt for the conference title. Despite losing 4-3 in their final home game of the regular season at Edgewood Bath and Tennis Club in Middlebury, Connecticut to Chestnut Hill College, a loss by Dominican (N.Y.) just prior to the defeat gave the Eagles the fourth and final seed in the CACC Tournament which will start this Friday.
Post will face off against Wilmington University on Friday at 10:00 AM down at the Delcastle Tennis Center against a Wildcats team they just lost to just under a week ago at the same location, 4-3.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED
The doubles matches would swing back and forth for both sides when it came to the #1 and #2 Doubles after junior
Nina Langenfeld and senior
Oceane Mallevre fell, 6-3, in the #3 Doubles against freshman Elena Arenas Guisasola and senior Annika Wise, putting the Griffins within a match of the doubles point.
Graduate student
Annunciata De-Souza and sophomore
Natalia Gonzalez Ramos held a 4-1 lead in the #2 Doubles while junior
Megan Lombardt and sophomore
Micaela Rosignuolo trailed 4-1 in the #1 Doubles before the two scores would end up being reversed. While Lombardt and Rosignuolo would overcome their deficit to emerge victorious over freshman Lillian Bandel and junior Romi Meiroich, 7-5, De-Souza and Gonzalez Ramos would find themselves on the opposite side of the aisle, falling to junior Alison Isaac and senior Sele Haag, 7-5.
Trailing 1-0 heading into the singles, the Eagles needed to win four matches should they want to solidify their spot in the CACC Tournament. While De-Souza would get them off to a strong start in the #1 Singles with a pair of 6-2 set wins over Bandel to even up the team score, Post would drop their next three singles matches which gave the match to the Griffins as they reached the target team score of four.Â
Lombardt would drop the #4 Singles to Meirovich, 6-2 and 6-3, before Rosignuolo fell to Isaac, 6-3 and 6-4, in the #2 Singles, followed by the match ending #5 Singles which saw Langenfeld get bested by Wise, 6-3 and 6-4. However, Post would end the evening on a high note, getting a victory in the #3 Singles from Mallevre against Haag in three sets which culminated in a 10-8 tiebreaker win while Gonzalez Ramos made quick work of Arenas Guisasola in the #6 Singles with 6-4 and 6-0 wins, making the team final 4-3 in favor of Chestnut Hill.Â
