Waterbury, CT - The Post University women's basketball team led from beginning to end in a convincing 83-38 win over Caldwell in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division matchup.
The win moves the Eagles to 10-7 overall and 5-2 in the CACC. Caldwell is now 7-8 overall and 5-2 in the CACC.
The 83 points for the Eagles was its highest scoring output of the year, as they were led by
Tyree Allen, who scored a career-high 19 and
Sha'Raya Haines, who scored 18.
Post blitzed the Cougars in the first quarter, jumping out to a 22-6 lead as Haines caught fire from deep, going 4-for-6 from three, and scoring 14 points in the quarter. Post took a 24-10 lead after the first as it shot 52.9 percent (9-for-17) in the first quarter.
The Eagles increased its lead to 41-20 at the half, highlighted by
Jailah White, who scored the final six points of the quarter, including a four-point play with 2:16 remaining.
Allen took over in the third, going 4-for-7 from the field for nine points to go with a steal, a block and assist as the Eagles took a 58-30 lead into the fourth.
In the fourth, the Eagles shot 64.3 percent (9-for-14) and held the Cougars to just 2-for-13 shooting. Six different Eagles scored in the quarter, including
Jayden Burns who had three points and three rebounds.
Amaya Santiago and
Tijanae Simmons each had five in the quarter and Allen had six.
White finished with eight points, five rebounds and three assists.
Jamie Waldron had eight points and four rebounds.
Kiara Eubanks scored nine. Burns led the Eagles with a team-high nine rebounds.
Post has now won its last five meetings against the Cougars. In those five games, the Eagles have won by an average of 28.2 points. It is also the second time this season they have held an opponent under 40 points in a game. They held Alliance to 31 earlier in the season.
The Eagles scored 24 points off of 18 turnovers.
Rebecca Morrison led Caldwell with 11 points.
