Waterbury, Conn. - The Post University women's volleyball team made quick work of Caldwell, winning 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-22) on Wednesday evening at the Drubner Center in its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opener.
Lydimar Soto led the Eagles with 12 kills, followed by Boop with 11 and
Aniya Goodman with ten.Â
Maria Fernanda Branco had a season-high 36 assists.Â
Post never trailed in the first set, jumping out to a 4-1 lead, thanks to two kills from Boop and one from Goodman to start the game. Caldwell tied the game up at 8-8 before a 12-6 run from Post made it a 20-14 set, with nine of those points in the run coming via kill.
Caldwell crept back to make it a 23-21 game, but a kill from Soto and a service error by Caldwell gave Post the 1-0 lead.
Post jumped out to a n 11-6 lead in set two and never led by less than three the rest of the way as six different Eagles had kills during the set.
In the third and final set, Caldwell got its first lead of any set, jumping out to a 3-0 lead before the Eagles tied the set, 5-5. The teams swapped leads five times in the let, with Post taking the lead for good on back-to-back kills from Boop and
Colleen Romero to make it a 21-19 score.
Kaitlyn Lemmon had two of the last five points on kills, and Boop ended the match with one of her own.
Romero finished with six kills, as did Branco.Â
Reese Sherwood led Caldwell with nine kills and 11 assists.
