Waterbury, CT - In the Post University football team's Division II debut,
Broghean McGovern threw for five touchdowns and 416 yards in a back-and-forth thrilling game in a 35-34 loss against Lock Haven on Saturday at Municipal Stadium.

McGovern's two favorite targets of the day were
Antonio Spencer and
Christian Collin. Spencer finished the day with seven catches for 147 yards and two touchdowns, while Collin had six catches for 100 yards and two touchdowns.

After Lock Haven struck first with a touchdown at the 7:42 mark in the first, the Eagles responded with a nine play, 80-yard drive as McGovern found Collin in the flat for a ten-yard touchdown pass to tie the game.

McGovern found a Collin in the second quarter on a deep post route for a 60-yard touchdown, giving the Eagles (0-1) a 14-7 lead.

The two teams went into the half tied and the Bald Eagles took the lead just over two minutes into the second half on a touchdown pass to Marquon Williams, one play after a blocked punt on Post's opening possession.

On Lock Haven's next possession,
Antwan Walden picked off a pass destined for the endzone and was marked down at the one-yard line. The Eagles then drove 99 yards on 11 plays, culminating on a 27-yard touchdown pass to Spencer just 11 seconds into the fourth. On the play, McGovern was forced out the pocket but dumped off a pass to Spencer who outran defenders for his first touchdown of the day.

A Lock Haven touchdown from Deandre Wakefield put the Bald Eagles back up a score before McGovern and Spencer connected again. This time McGovern looked destined to be sacked but heaved the ball up to the back corner of the endzone to find a wide-open Spencer, as the Eagles tied up the game 28-28- with 8:21 remaining.

It took Lock Haven just two plays to take the lead again as Easton Turner found Williams again for a 52-yard touchdown with 7:31 left.

With just over two minutes left, the Eagles drove 74 yards on six plays as McGovern found
Nick Wright who beat his defender on one-on-one to make it a 35-34 game with 57 seconds left. On the ensuing point after attempt the Eagles went for two on a fake PAT, but Spencer was stopped short just before the goal line. Lock Haven would recover the ensuing onside kick to secure the win.

Wright finished with three catches for 84 yards and a touchdown. Robert Salas and
Joshua Tracey both had three receptions apiece. McGovern completed passes to nine different receivers on 26-for-38 passing.

Evan Hatten had an interception for the Eagles to go with two tackles.
Talik Birton led the Eagles with eight tackles.
Calem Bowman and
Ivory Parker each had six tackles.

Turner was 20-for-35 for 248 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions for Lock Haven. Wakefield had 19 attempts for 87 yards rushing. Williams had five receptions for 131 yards and two touchdowns for the Bald Eagles (1-0).

The Eagles get their first road game of the season on September 10
th, as they head to Stonehill to take on the Skyhawks at 1 p.m.
