Softball Splits With Felician In CACC Opening Doubleheader

Wood-Ridge, N.J. – Allyson Wallauer had the game of her life in game two against Felician as the Post University softball team split with Felician in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader. After dropping game one, 6-5, the Eagles won, 10-2 in game two in five innings.

In the win, the Wallauer kicked off the scoring in the first inning, with an RBI single that scored Caitlin DeAngelis, who singled with one out in the inning. With the bases loaded in the inning, Samantha Riccardulli doubled to left scoring Wallauer and Bailee Zaccaro.

The Eagles (6-6, 1-1 CACC) went on an extra-base hitting spree in the second inning as Kathryn Peterson, DeAngelis and Zaccaro all hit doubles to make it a 5-0 lead. Wallauer followed with her first home run of the season, a two-run shot, to make it a 7-0 Eagles lead.

Wallauer wasn't done there, as after Felician (5-6, 3-1 CACC) scored two in the bottom of the third, she answered with her second two-run homer of the game, putting the Eagles up 9-2. Riccardulli and Julianna Cicala both hit back-to-back doubles in the inning, making it a 10-2 game. Brianna Koref shutdown the Golden Falcons in the fifth for her fourth complete game win of the season.

Koref allowed just two earned runs on four hits and three walks, striking out one.

Wallauer finished the game 3-for-3 with five RBI, two home runs and three runs. Riccardulli was 3-for-3 with a run and two RBI. Zaccaro was 3-for-4 with three runs and an RBI. DeAngelis was 2-for-4 with two runs.

In game one, the Eagles jumped out to a 5-0 lead before Felician mounted a comeback, scoring the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh.

The Eagles opened with an RBI double from Kasey Jusino that scored DeAngelis, who reached on a fielder's choice.

In the top of the third, the Eagles mounted a two-out rally. After Zaccaro singled and Jusino and Wallauer both reached on an error, Bailey Dickenson hit a grand slam to left for her first home run of her career to make it a 5-0 game.

Felician rallied with two runs in the bottom of the third on a two-run homer by Alexis Velotta and three in the bottom of the fifth courtesy of a Daisha Howard bases-clearing double to tie the game. Felician would win the game in the bottom of the seventh on a walk-off single from Johanna Rivera.

Post gets right back to action on Saturday, hosting Chestnut Hill at noon in a CACC doubleheader.
