Late Inning Rally Falls Short As Baseball Falls To Bentley

Lake Worth, FL – The Post University baseball team lost a 12-7 game to Bentley on Thursday afternoon at Santaluces High School.

After falling behind 2-0 after the third inning the Eagles rallied for one run in the bottom of the fifth on a an RBI single from Michael Pavelchak to score Harry Allegra, who was hit by a pitch to start the inning.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Eagles took their first lead of the game, after loading the bases. Nate Miller and Robert Olah led off the inning with back to back singles followed by a walk to Matt Goehrig. With two outs, Jordan Glazer came to the plate and ripped a ball to center field to score Olah and Miller to put the Eagles up, 3-2.

The Falcons got three runs back in the top of the seventh on a three-run home run from Eddy Beauregard, making it a 5-3 Falcons (4-10) lead.

Bentley scored in the top of the eighth, highlighted by a two-run double from Kyle Halloran.

Post's bats didn't go quiet in the bottom of the inning, scoring four of their own as the first three batters reached to load the bases for Evan Cornwell whose sacrifice fly scored Brycin Hernandez. Pavelchak followed with another RBI single. After a walk to Hunter Keller to load the bases again, Miller hit a two-run single to plate Pavelchak and Andrew Roman.

Joe Christiana started on the mound for the Eagles, pitching six innings, fiving up two runs – one earned – on five hits four walks while striking out four.

Pavelchak finished 2-for-5 with a run and two RBI. Miller was 3-for-5 with a run and two RBI. Glazer was 1-for-4 with an RBI.

Up next, the Eagles take on Southern Connecticut State University at 11 a.m. on Friday.
