Women's Basketball Clinches CACC North Regular Season Title With Win Over Felician

Rutherford, N.J. -  Sha'Raya Haines scored a career-high 33 points as the Post University women's basketball team clinched the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division regular season title with an 85-71 win over Felician on Saturday evening.

The two teams were tied for first in the North Division heading into the game.

The Eagles finish the regular season at 18-7 overall and 12-5 in the CACC. Felician finishes the regular season 12-14 overall and 10-7 in the CACC.

It is the second time the Eagles have won the CACC North title. They also took home the title in the 2019-2020 season.

Post fell behind 15-9 in the first quarter, but a three from Amaya Santiago and three free-throws by the Eagles had them only trailing 17-15 heading into the second. Kyla Ramseur scored six of her 23 points in the first.

Haines hit two threes in the beginning stages of the second quarter to keep the Eagles in striking distance. After nipping at the heels of Felician for the better part of nine minutes in the quarter, the Eagles got five straight points from Ramseur, thanks to a layup and a three, giving them a 38-33 lead with 17 seconds remaining in the quarter. They'd go into the half leading 38-36. Haines scored 12 points in the quarter, and Tai Pagan had three of her seven blocks in the quarter.

After Felician cut the Eagles lead to 38-37 in the beginning stages of the third, the Eagles went on a 15-7 run, with seven points coming from Haines, to take a 53-44 lead.  She also scored the final five points of the quarter to give Post a 64-58 lead heading into the fourth.

In the fourth, the Eagles jumped out to a 10-2 run over the first 3:24 to take a 74-60 lead as Haines and Jaeonna Sutton both hit threes as the Eagles began to pull away. Felician would never get within single digits again as the Eagles were able to pull away, leading by as much as 18 points.

Pagan finished with eight points and five rebounds to go along with her career-high in blocks. Haines finished 6-for-10 from three.

Haines now has 1,131 points in her career, moving her to fourth all-time in school history, surpassing Melissa Czeremcha (2000-2004).

Briana Lee led Felician with 31 points and nine rebounds.

Up next, the Eagles will host the first round of the CACC Tournament as the No. 1 seed in the North. They will take on No. 4 in the South, Georgian Court on March 1, scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
