Caldwell, N.J. - The Post University women's basketball team had a pair of double-doubles as the Eagles defeated Caldwell, 68-51 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game on Wednesday evening.
It was the fourth straight win for the Eagles who are 17-7 overall and 11-5 in the CACC, keeping them in first place in the North Division.
Tai Pagan had a monster game with 14 points and tied a career-high with 18 rebounds.
Sha'Raya Haines had 15 points and ten rebounds and
Kyla Ramseur led the Eagles with 17 points.
Post scored the first four points of the game and took a 13-11 lead after the first quarter as Ramseur scored seven of her points in the frame. Pagan grabbed half of her rebounds - nine - in the first quarter.
Post opened the second quarter hitting three straight threes as
Jaeonna Sutton,
Makayla Thompson and Haines each hit threes to give the Eagles a 22-17 lead at the 5:30 mark. Post went 5-for-8 in the quarter from deep and took a 34-27 lead into the break.
Post blew the doors open in the third quarter, scoring the first 12 points of the third quarter as Pagan, Thompson and Ramseur all made buckets to put the Eagles up 46-27 at the 6:59 mark. The Eagles held the Cougars to 4-for-15 shooting in the third and took a 54-38 lead into the fourth.
Post extended its lead to as much as 20 points in the fourth and were never threatened.
The Eagles out rebounded the Cougars, 53-33. The 53 rebounds were the second highest total this season for the Eagles, topped only by the 62 rebounds they had in the first meeting against Caldwell.
Thompson finished with 11 points and seven rebounds.
Jessica Wagoner led the Cougars (12-14, 7-9 CACC) with 12 points off the bench.
Up next, the Eagles play Felician on the road on Feb. 26. A win for the Eagles will clinch the outright CACC North Division title.
