Waterbury, Conn. - The Post University women's basketball team put on a defensive display, defeating Wilmington, 68-33 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game on Monday evening at the Drubner Center.
The 33 points is the third lowest point total the Eagles have ever given up in program history. They've given up 32 twice, including this season in a win over Caldwell.
With the win, the Eagles arena 16-7 on the season and 10-5 in the CACC and remain in first place in the North Division.
After briefly falling behind 4-0 to start the game, the Eagles scored the next 21 points to take a commanding lead as the Eagles hit four threes and caused eight turnovers in the first ten minutes. The Eagles led 21-8 after the first.
The Eagles increased their lead to 40-18 at the half led by
Tai Pagan who scored eight of her 15 points in the quarter.
Jaeonna Sutton hit two of her five three-pointers. Post led by as much as 26 in the quarter (40-14) before the Wildcats scored the final four points of the quarter.
The Eagles held the Wildcats (1-20, 1-15 CACC) to 6-for-24 shooting in the second half, including 1-for-11 in the fourth as the Eagles never led by less than 24 the rest of the way.
Sutton finished with a team-high 19 points. Pagan had her third double-double of the season grabbing 11 rebounds to go with her 15 points in just 14 minutes of action. She was 7-for-10 from the field.
Amaya Santiago finished with 11 points.
Post forced 24 turnovers and had 15 steals. Post had 20 points off of those turnovers and also had 20 second chance points after grabbing 25 offensive rebounds.
