Wilmington, De. – Four Post University women's basketball players scored in double figures as the Eagles defeated Goldey-Beacom 63-47 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game on Thursday afternoon.
Post is now 14-7 overall and 8-5 in the CACC, reclaiming first place in the CACC North Division.
Jaeonna Sutton led the Eagles with 12 points and five steals.
Kyla Ramseur and
Sha'Raya Haines each chipped in with 11 points and
Tai Pagan had ten points to go along with her monster defensive game, as she had five blocks and five steals on the day.
Trailing for over the first seven minutes of the first quarter, the Eagles took their first lead at 2:34 on a layup from Pagan. The Eagles led 19-15 at the end of the first quarter.
Post shot 50 percent (6-for-12) from the field in the second quarter, extending its lead to 36-26 at the break.
Makayla Thompson scored six points in the second quarter for the Eagles. All six field goals made by the Eagles were from six different players.
A 10-2 run opened up the game for the Eagles in the third as they took a 46-28 lead at the 6:24 mark. Thompson and Haines hit back-to-back threes in the opening run. Post allowed just eight points in the quarter, taking a 50-34 lead into the fourth.
Post never led by less than 12 the rest of the way and led by as much as 19 in the fourth.
Thompson finished with nine points, six rebounds and four assists.
The Eagles tied a season-high with 18 steals and notched a new season-high in blocks with nine, led by Pagan.
Post scored 25 points off of 24 turnovers.
Up next, the Eagles head back home for a CACC matchup against Dominican on Feb. 19 at 1 p.m.
