Waterbury, CT – The Post University women's basketball team almost made a monumental comeback in a 70-69 loss to Saint Anselm on Friday evening.
The Eagles trailed by 25 points at 65-42 with 6:13 remaining before the Eagles began their rally. During the rally, as
Tyree Allen scored eight points, including two threes as well as five points from both
Tyara McQueen and
Kiara Eubanks.
After a three from McQueen and a steal from Allen,
Lauren Murphy made a free throw making it a 69-67 game with 15 seconds left. The Hawks made a free throw to make it a 70-67 game and
Roxkel Washington grabbed an offensive rebound off a miss and made a layup to make it a 70-69 game with just over a second remaining.
Post fouled Liv Robles, who missed both free throws. Post grabbed the rebound, but were unable to get a shot off.
In the first quarter, the Eagles trailed 13-4 before scoring six of the final eight points as
Amaya Santiago hit a three and Eubanks hit three free throws.
Saint Anselm took a 40-25 lead at the half and held a 55-37 lead after three.
Eubanks and Allen both finished with 17 points.
Jamie Waldron had a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds. Washington had ten points and eight rebounds. Allen also added a team-high four steals.
Gabby Turco had a team-high 21 points for Saint Anselm. Robles had a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds.
