Women's Basketball Four-Game Winning Streak Snapped To Montana State-Billings

Fairbanks, AK - The Post University women's basketball team had its four-game winning streak snapped by the hands of Montana State University-Billings Yellowjackets, 66-45 on Saturday evening at the North Star Invitational.

The Eagles are now 5-2 on the season, while Montana State Billings moves to 6-1.

After the Eagles struck first on a three from Tijane Simmons to start the game, the Yellowjackets scored the next 14 and took a 16-7 lead heading into the second quarter.

Post made a surge in the second quarter after falling behind 24-13. Tyree Allen started the rally with a three, followed by a layup from Roxkel Washington, a three from Tyara McQueen and another basket by Washington to make it a 26-23 game with under three minutes before halftime. The Yellowjackets would score the final five points of the half, including a three from Aspen Giese to take a 31-23 lead into the break.

The Yellowjackets took a 38-25 lead at the 6:08 mark of the third. The Eagles cut their deficit to as little as six after a traditional three-point play by McQueen to make it a 40-34 game before the Yellowjackets finished on an 8-2 run to lead 48-36 heading to the fourth.

In the fourth, the Yellowjackets never led by less than ten the rest of the way, outscoring the Eagles 18-9.

Washington and McQueen both led the Eagles in scoring with ten points apiece. McQueen also added a team-high eight rebounds and three assists.

Dyauni Boyce had a double-double for the Yellowjackets with 26 points on 11-for-13 shooting to go along with ten rebounds. Giese filled the stat sheet ith seven points, seven rebounds and seven assists to go with three steals.

Post makes the treip back home and will open Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play with a home matchup against the University of Bridgeport on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 5:30 p.m.
