Haines Scores 27 Points As Women’s Basketball Tops Georgian Court

Waterbury, Conn. – Sha'Raya Haines scored a season-high 27 points as the Post University women's basketball team defeated Georgian Court, 79-67 at the Drubner Center in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game.

The win moves the Eagles to 11-4 overall and 5-2 in the CACC.

A competitive first quarter saw the lead change hands nine times before the Eagles were able to take a 26-22 lead after the first ten minutes. The Eagles shot 9-for-17 from the field, including 4-for-7 from Haines, who had 12 points in the quarter.

The Eagles increased their lead to 45-32 at the half after holding the Lions to just 3-for-11 from the field, with Haines ending the second quarter on a three. Tai Pagan scored eight points in the quarter. The Eagles hit three of their six threes in the frame.

After the Lions trimmed the Eagles lead to 58-48 at the end of the third, the Eagles scored the first 11 points of the fourth to take a 69-48 lead at the 5:52 mark of the quarter, effectively putting the game away. Five different Eagles made field goals during the decisive run. The Lions tried to chisel their way at the Post lead, but the Eagles were able to make their final eight free throws down the stretch to secure the win.

Pagan finished with 16 points and nine rebounds. Kiera Fernandes, had a season-high 15 points on 6-for-9 shooting including 2-for-4 from three. Makayla Thompson led the Eagles with seven assists. Kyla Ramseur had eight points and six rebounds.

Post outrebounded the Lions, 43-35 and forced 16 turnovers, leading to 15 points.

Post had won the last four meetings against the Lions.

Tian Addison led the Lions (6-10, 3-6 CACC) with 15 points and six assists.

Up next, the Eagles host Nyack at 5:30 p.m. on February 1.
