Women's Basketball Dominates Holy Family To Stay Undefeated In CACC

Waterbury, Conn. – Five players scored in double figures as the Post University women's basketball team won in dominating fashion over Holy Family, 91-54 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game at the Drubner Center on Sunday afternoon.

The win puts the Eagles at 9-2 on the season and 3-0 in the CACC. The Eagles have now won eight of their last nine games.

It was the first win for the program over Holy Family (6-7, 1-3 CACC) in school history.

Sha'Raya Haines and Jaeonna Sutton led the way for the Eagles in scoring with 20 points apiece.

The Eagles led all game except for the brief 1-0 lead the Tigers held early on.

Post then jumped out to an 18-3 lead and would take a 21-7 lead at the end of the first ten minutes. The Eagles hit four threes in the quarter, including two from Kiera Fernandes.

Post extended its lead to 48-22 at halftime, thanks in large part to scoring the first ten points of the second quarter behind baskets from Amaya Santiago, Makayla Thompson, Fernandes and Kyla Ramseur.

Post put the game away in the beginning stages of the third as Haines hit three three-pointers in the first 3:19 of the quarter to give the Eagles a 61-24 lead. Haines finished the day shooting 6-for-9 from three.

The Eagles would lead by as much as 42 points in the fourth quarter as the Tigers never threatened.

Sutton's 20 points were a career-high, as she shot 8-for-14 from the field. She also had four rebounds, four assists and four steals.

Tai Pagan finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Fernandes had a season-high 13 points and hit three of her four three-point attempts. Thompson had 13 points, four rebounds three steals and two assists.

The 14 threes by the Eagles were a season-high as was their 42.4 shooting percentage (14-42) from deep. The 91 points were also a season-high.

Post heads back out on the road on Wednesday, January 5th as they take on Dominican in a CACC North game at 5:30 p.m.
