West Haven, Conn. – The Post University women's soccer team lost a heartbreaking season opener to New Haven, 3-2 in double overtime on Thursday evening.

After falling behind, 1-0 in the 20th minute, the Eagles scored two goals in the latter half of the first half.

Freshman Tassia Ferreira got the Eagles on the board in the 40th minute as she took a pass from Gorgi Van Lienen in front of the net and put it past goalkeeper Paige Davis to make it a 1-1 game.

Less than two minutes later, Hailey McGee took about a 40 yard pass from Sierra Tarantino, beat the defender and put home her first goal of the season past Davis to give the Eagles the lead in the 42nd minute, a lead they would hold into halftime.
