Van Lienen Scores Twice As Women’s Soccer Notches First Win Over College Of Staten Island

Staten Island, N.Y. –Gorgi van Lienen scored two goals to go along with an assist as the Post University women's soccer team won its first game of the season, a 5-0 win over The College of Staten Island on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference road game.

With the win, the Eagles move to 1-2 on the season.

Post got on the board early in the sixth minute as van Lienen faked out a defender on the left side of the box and launched a strike in the top right corner into the net to give the Eagles the 1-0 lead. Alyssa Hebb was credited with the assist.

In the 30th minute, Katharina Kuhne took a cross from Imani Young after Young beat two defenders and placed the ball right at Kuhne's foot to put in the easy goal to make it a 2-0 game.

The Eagles went into the half by the same score before van Lienen got the Eagles going again in the 61st minute. Kuhne stole the ball just before midfield and found van Lienen streaking down the left side. Van Lienen gathered the ball, made a move past a defender and scored her second goal on the lower left side past goalkeeper Sara Villacres to make it a 3-0 game.

Hebb scored her first career goal in the 80th minute as Hailey McGee needled a pass through two defenders to Hebb who was heading toward the far left post and tapped the ball in the back of the net to make it a 4-0 game.

On the fifth and final goal in the 90th minute, van Lienen dished a pass to senior Sabrina Adamo who beat her defender down field and scored her first goal of the season.

Claire Said earned her first win in net for the Eagles, stopping one shot on the day.

It was the second time in van Lienen's career she scored two goals in a game. She also accomplished the feat in 2018 in a game against Goldey-Beacom.

The Eagles outshot the Dolphins, 16-3 on the day and had five corner kicks as opposed to zero for the Dolphins.

The Eagles will finally make their first appearance at home in their next contest as they host Caldwell in their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opener at noon at LaMoy Field.
