Waterbury, Conn. – Freshman Dylan Heald scored five goals, but the Post University men's lacrosse team dropped a 16-13 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game to Felician on Tuesday afternoon at LaMoy Field.
It was a back and forth affair, as the two teams exchanged leads five times throughout the game.
After conceding the first goal, the Eagles tied the game with nine minutes remaining in the first period on a goal from Ryan Baker off a pass from Nick Meier.
Heald gave the Eagles (0-3, 0-2 CACC) their first lead of the game on a goal off a pass from Carlos Chacua to make it a 2-1 Post lead. The Golden Falcons scored three of the next four goals – with a Quran Langston goal mixed in between – to take a 4-3 lead before Meier scored two consecutive goals of his own to give Post a 5-4 lead.
Felician went into the half scoring the final five goals to take a 9-5 lead at the break.
Post made a run in the second half. With Felician up 11-8 at the 9:47 mark in the third, the Eagles rattled off four straight goals, including two more from Heald to give Post the lead back, 12-11. Jake Bova scored the final goal in the run to take the lead.
Felician (2-4, 1-1 CACC) added one more goal with seconds remaining to tie the game heading into the fourth.
The Golden Falcons took control in the fourth, outscoring the Eagles, 4-1 which included two goals from Robert Grasso, who scored nine on the day.
Heald had two assists to go along with his give goals. Brendan Kelleher had two goals and an assist. Meier finished with a hat trick and three assists. Heald has scored five goals twice in a game in his first three games as an Eagle.
In net, Manuele D'Alessio had 14 saves on the day.
