Women’s Basketball Winning Streak Snapped At Saint Michael’s

Colchester, VT – Kyla Ramseur led the Post University women's basketball team with a season-high 26 points, but the Eagles fell to Saint Michael's 85-76, snapping its six game winning streak on Sunday afternoon.

With the loss, the Eagles are now 7-2 on the season.

Ramseur's six three-pointers were also a season-high for the senior.

The Eagles took control of the game in the first quarter, finishing the first ten minutes on a 13-6 run to take a 27-18 lead. The Eagles hit four three-pointers during the quarter, with Ramseur and Jaeonna Sutton hitting two apiece. Ramseur finished with eight points in the quarter while Makayla Thompson had five.

Post extended its lead to as much as ten in the second quarter on a layup from Thompson with 8:07 remaining, making it a 31-21 game. The Purple Knights closed the gap to three points at 40-37, thanks to two threes from Nicole Anderson. The Eagles went into the half up 47-41 after Sutton scored the final four points in the quarter. Sha'Raya Haines scored six of her ten points in the quarter.

The third quarter saw the Eagles jump out to an 11-point lead at 60-49 as two threes from Thompson and one from Sutton gave the Eagles a cushion. However, the Purple Knights finished the quarter on A 12-5 run as Anika Kapral made a layup with a second remaining.

The Purple Knights took its first lead of the second half at the 5:58 mark of the fourth quarter and led by as much as five at 75-70 before the Eagles returned the favor behind the hot shooting of Ramseur, who hit two three-pointers to five the Eagles the lead back at 76-75 with 3:10 remaining.

However, those would be the last points of the game for the Eagles as the Purple Knights finished the quarter on a 10-0.

Sutton finished the game with 14 points, including 4-for-9 from three-point range. Thompson had 15 points and four rebounds. Tai Pagan led the Eagles with ten rebounds.

Again, the Eagles bench was spectacular, outscoring the Purple Knights' bench, 42-20. For Ramseur, it was the fifth straight game scoring 20 points or more, all off the bench. The Eagles tied their season-high for three-pointers in a game with 12. They also achieved the feat in wins over the College of Staten Island and Nyack.

Anderson led four players in double figures for the Purple Knights with 18 points to go with nine assists.

Up next, the Eagles play in-state rival Southern Connecticut State University on Monday, December 20 at 1:30 p.m.
