Women’s Soccer Loses Heartbreaker In OT To Jefferson In CACC Quarterfinals

Philadelphia, Pa. – The Post University women's soccer team lost a heartbreaking 3-2 overtime match to the Jefferson University Rams in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) quarterfinals on Tuesday afternoon.

The Eagles finish their season at 6-9-1 overall.

Post opened up the scoring in the 26th minute as Hailey McGee passed a through ball to Lydia Asamoah, who made a cut to avoid a defender and put home her fourth goal of the season. Earlier in the day Asamoah was named to the All-CACC Second Team.

The Rams tied the game in the 35th minute on a corner kick by Ava Albergo that bounced off a Post defender and into the net to tie the game at 1-1. A penalty kick from Jefferson's Kiery Spatz at the 41st minute gave the Rams the lead going into the half.

With the game in the balance in the second half, the Eagles were able to tie it up in the 74th minute as a free kick from Hailey McGee went to Sydney Rutherford, who tapped a pass to center to an open Alyssa Hebb who put home her second goal of the season.

The game remained tied the rest of regulation, sending the game into overtime. On a breakaway in overtime, Jefferson's Laural Erick took a shot that was stopped by goalkeeper Tayleur Little as she got out of the net. But the ball rebounded to

Grace Kenville who scored on a virtually empty net.

Little had nine saves on the day.
