Women’s Basketball Wins Third Straight Behind 25 Points From Ramseur

Waterbury, Conn. – The Post University women's basketball team won its third straight game, hitting 12 three-pointers en route to an 88-58 win over the College of Staten Island on Sunday afternoon at the Drubner Center.

Kyla Ramseur led the way for the Eagles with a season-high 25 points, hitting four threes on the day. Amaya Santiago added 17 points on 3-for-7 from deep.

With the game tied, 11-11 with 4:07 remaining in the first quarter, the Eagles rattled off the next 12 points, including threes from Kiera Fernandes, Jaeonna Sutton and Ramseur to give Post the commanding 23-11 lead. They would take a 27-16 lead at the end of the first. The Eagles scored 13 points in the quarter off of eight Dolphin turnovers.

Post more than doubled its lead at halftime as the Eagles outscored the Dolphins, 24-12 in the second quarter. The Eagles again forced eight turnovers in the quarter. Santiago hit two threes in the quarter while Ramseur and Sutton each hit one.

The Eagles took a 78-41 lead after the third quarter behind ten more points from Ramseur and six from Makayla Thompson, who hit all three of her field goal attempts in the frame.

The Eagles wouldn't let their lead slip below 30 the rest of the way.

Tai Pagan finished with ten points and eight rebounds to go along with three blocks. Sutton finished with 11 points, hitting three three-pointers and Thompson had a solid all-around game with nine points, six rebounds, eight assists and three steals.

Post's bench outscored the Dolphins, 50-3. The Eagles also had 20 second chance points to eight for CSI. The Eagles also forced 28 turnovers by the Dolphins.

Up next the Eagles finally get their first road test of the season as they travel to play St. Thomas Aquinas on Wednesday, December 1 at 5:30 p.m.
