Waterbury, Conn. – The Post University women's basketball team lost a 76-58 game to Franklin Pierce on Wednesday evening in a non-conference game at the Drubner Center.
Sha'Raya Haines led the way for the Eagles with 15 points, hitting three three-pointers on the night. Jaeonna Sutton had 14 points.
The Eagles had a strong first quarter, as Sutton's eight points paced the Eagles, who led 21-14 at the end of the quarter. The Eagles went 5-for-8 from three in the quarter as Sutton and Makayla Thompson both hit two threes.
Post increased its lead to as much as nine points in the second quarter on a layup from Haines to make it 28-19 at the 5:35 mark.
The Ravens rallied, cutting the Eagles lead to 32-31 before the half.
Franklin Pierce scored the first four points of the third quarter and would lead by nine heading into the four.
Haines went 3-for-4 in the fourth quarter on threes as the Eagles were able to trim a 15-point deficit down seven at 61-54 with 4:57 left, but it would be the closest they would get the rest of the way.
Thompson finished with nine points, hitting three three-pointers.
Emma Carter led the Ravens with 27 points, Ines Gimenez Monserrat had 21.
