Shelton, Conn. – The Post University women's hockey team won its second straight game against Saint Michael's, 3-1 in a New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) game on Saturday afternoon at The Rinks at Shelton.
The Eagles improved to 2-1-0 on the season with the win.
Madison Turley got the Eagles on the board at the 8:15 mark in the first period as she took a pass in the slot from Victoria Patton and took a shot while falling to her knees into the net to give the Eagles the 1-0 lead.
Post went into the first intermission with the one goal lead, but would score early in the second period as Kiersten Browning scored her first goal of her career when she stole a pass from Saint Michael's at the blue line, beat the defender in front of her, and scored on Purple Knights goalie, Gabriella Dicomitis to make it a 2-0 game at the 2:21 mark of the second.
Angelina Ruiz would score Saint Michael's lone goal of the game at the 9:24 mark of the second to make it a one-goal game going into the final frame.
In that final frame, Browning would score her second goal of the game at the 16:58 mark when she stuffed home a rebound on a shot from Julia Wysocki for the final tally for the Eagles.
In her first career start in net, Grace Glasrud had 31 saves, earning her first win of her career.
Wysocki won eight faceoffs to lead the Eagles.
