Baseball Splits With AIC

Lake Worth, Fla. – The Post University baseball team split a doubleheader with American International College on Thursday. The Eagles dropped game one, 11-2 and won 11-5 in game two as the bats came alive.

 

The Eagles now sit at 8-5 overall on the season.

 

In the game two win, the Eagles jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the first after a three-run triple from senior Jared Zima.

 

After the Yellow Jackets tied the game up in the top of the fourth, the Eagles responded with nine in the bottom of the inning, capped by a three-run homer from senior Tyler Melko. Leading up to that, junior Brycin Hernandez added a two-run triple in the inning. Post tacked on two more runs with a two-run double by freshman Thomas DiRusso.

 

Melko finished the game, 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBI. Senior Alec Olsen was 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.

 

In game one, the Eagles took an early 1-0 lead on an RBI single from Olsen, but the Yellow Jackets scored five runs in the bottom of the second and four more in the fourth to put the game away.

 

The Eagles continue their Spring Break trip as they take on No. 20 New York Tech at 1 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles won the first matchup of the season, 9-1 on Wednesday.
