Box Score

Myrtle Beach, S.C. – The Post University baseball team hit five home runs, including three from Tyler Keith, as the Eagles routed Benedict, 23-2 on Friday afternoon for their first win of the season.

Keith also drove in nine runs as part of the offensive onslaught that forced the mercy rule, ending the game in seven innings.

Post jumped out the gate in the first, scoring five runs, highlighted by a two-run homer to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead. Shane Lindemuth also drove in a run with a single.

After back-to-back walks, followed by a strikeout, Keith belted his first homer of the game, scoring senior Tyler Melko and sophomore Christian Aliberti to give Post the 8-0 lead. Devon Ogston then followed with a solo homer, making it a 9-0 game, as the Eagles opened up the floodgates.

A seven run third was highlighted by a second three-run homer from Keith, scoring Melko and Olsen, who both walked earlier in the inning to make it a 13-0 game. The Eagles tacked on two more runs after Brycin Hernandez reached on an error that score Lindenmuth and Thomas Dirusso.

After the Tigers added two runs in the top of the fourth, the Eagles scored six more in the bottom of the inning as Keith hit his third three-run homer of the game. Aliberti added an RBI single and Melko added a two-run double in the inning.

Melko finished the day going 3-for-4 with two RBI and three runs. Olsen was 1-for-2 with three runs and two RBI. Aliberti was 1-for-3 with two runs and an RBI. Lindemuth was 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.
