Men’s Hockey Leads In Third, But Assumption Rallies To Top Eagles In NE10 Game

Worcester, Mass. – The Post University men's hockey team held a third period lead, but ultimately fell to Assumption, 3-2 in a tough Northeast10 loss on Saturday evening.

The loss snaps a two-game winning streak for the Eagles, who are now 4-14-1 overall and 1-11-0 in the NE10.

After a scoreless first period, Assumption scored 12:37 into the second as Robert Holyoke made it a 1-0 game.

Post responded nearly five minutes later, as sophomore Niko Grollman took a centering pass from junior Jake Raleigh who fired the puck past Assumption goalie David Zulauf to tie the game, 1-1 on the power play. It was Grollman's sixth goal of the season, as he has scored in two straight games.

Senior Tyler Hackett would then score the Eagles second power play goal of the game, firing a shot from the corner to put Post up, 2-1 at the 9:46 mark.

However, the Greyhounds answered less than two minutes later on a goal from Dante Maribito on a power play at 11:28. Holyoke followed with the game-winner at 15:41.

Post had a 6-on-4 opportunity in the final 1:48, but were unable to convert.

Junior Brandon Brown had 34 saves in net for the Eagles.

The teams meet again on Saturday at Assumption for a 6 p.m. puck drop.
