Boulay Has 15 Digs, But Women’s Volleyball Falls To Nyack In CACC Opener

Waterbury, Conn. – Junior Suzy Boulay had 15 digs, but the Post University women's volleyball team dropped a hard fought 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-21) match to Nyack in its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener on Wednesday evening.

After falling behind 8-3 early in set one, the Eagles tied it at 16-16 thanks to three kills by freshman Mikayla McLeod and two by senior Michelle Stublarec. But the Warriors jumped back out to a 22-17 lead and held on for the set win.

In set two, after Nyack jumped to a 13-6 lead, the Eagles went on a 9-4 run, the Eagles went on a 6-1 run, cutting the deficit to 14-12. Senior Shannon Veale put together three kills – two on assists from Boulay – during the run. It was the closest the Eagles would get the rest of the way in the set.

Set three saw the Eagles take a 15-9 lead after going on an 8-1 run midway through the set. Of those eight points, six were via kill, with Boulay assisting on two of them to Aniya Goodman. The Warriors eventually came back to take a 20-19 lead, one they wouldn't relinquish the rest of the way.

Veale finished with ten kills to lead the Eagles. Freshman Kim Buttery had 16 assists.

Up next, the Eagles take on Bentley at 6 p.m. on September 24 on the road.
