Men's Basketball Announces Newcomers For 2019-20 Season

The Post University men's basketball team is excited to announce the five newest members of the Eagles family for its 2019-2020 season.

Junior guard Darrick Boyd of Springfield, Mass., returns to the Eagles after playing for them as a freshman in the 2017-2018 season. Boyd was 13th in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference in scoring that season at 15.3 points per game and 15th in the CACC in free-throw percentage. "I am thrilled to have the opportunity to coach Darrick again," coach Marc Kuntz said. "He had a good freshman year and is more mature and developed after his year in Florida. He will be an integral part of our team this year."

Junior forward Lamarr Wood, a native of Chicago comes in as a transfer from Lake Region State College where he averaged 16.3 points per game as a sophomore, while shooting 62.9 percent from the field. "Lamarr is a long, athletic forward who can score well around the basket," Kuntz said. "He will be counted on to bolster our front court."

Jamoni Barber, a junior guard out of Oakland, Calif. Comes in as a transfer form Merritt College where he was named to the first team All-Bay Area Conference. Barber averaged 10.6 points per game in 28 games for Merritt with a season high 22 points against Los Medanos. He also shot 35.3 percent from three. "We signed Jamoni very late and am excited to see what he can bring to the team," Kuntz said. "He is an older guard who hopefully can give help with his experience."

Freshman guard Tyler Small out of Babylon, N.Y. is a decorated player coming out of Holy Trinity Diocesan High School. He was named NSCHSAA Conference Player of the year in 2018 as well as making all-conference three times. He was named as one of the top 25 basketball players on Long Island from Newsday as well as a two-time honoree on the All-Long Island team. He was also named fourth team all-state. "Tyler is a very strong, physical guard for a freshman," Kuntz said. "He played for very good programs in Long Island and hope he can contribute this year."

Harrison Warnock, a freshman forward from Baldwin, N.Y., from The Master's School in Connecticut is projected to be one of the Eagles' top shooting threats. He was named All-NEPSAC Honorable Mention in 2018 and 2019 and scored 1,000 career points "Harry is a skilled forward who is physical and has a good basketball IQ, Kuntz said. "He can really shoot the ball and that is an area we need to improve on."
