Waterbury, Conn. - The Post University softball team put up seven early runs in game one and held on late to defeat LIU Post, 7-3 in the first game of a doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles dropped game two, 8-1.

Leyri Rivera (Dover, N.J.) scored on an error after she singled to lead off the inning. Later in the inning, freshman
Bailee Zaccaro (Levittown, Pa.) grounded into a fielder's choice that scored freshman
Kasey Jusino (Bordentown, N.J.), who singled earlier in the inning.
The big inning came in the bottom of the second, as the Eagles scored five runs, highlighted by a two-run double from sophomore
Demi Rivera (Hazlet, N.J.) that scored Jusino and sophomore
Cassidy Petrie (Staten Island, N.Y.) to make it a 7-0 game. Earlier in the inning Petrie had an RBI double that scored sophomore
Brittany Giordano (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) and freshman
Jazmin Andrews (Queens, N.Y.) that gave Post a 4-0 lead. Jusino added an RBI single to score
Leyri Rivera.
The Pioneers added two runs in the fourth and one in the seventh on a solo home run by Julia Seader
Freshman
Christina Loeffler (East Meadow, N.Y.) got the win for the Eagles (7-12, 1-5 CACC), pitching 3.1 innings, and striking out two while giving up two earned runs.
Demi Rivera got the save in 3.2 innings of relief.
In game two, LIU Post jumped out to a 4-0 lead, and Jusino homered for the Eagles in the 8-1 win for the Pioneers.
The Pioneers scored four runs in the second, highlighted by a two-run double from Patricia Dun. Jusino's homer came in the bottom of the second to lead off the inning.
The Eagles had four hits in the game. Two of those from freshman
Allyson Wallauer (Landenberg, Pa.) who went 2-for-2 on the day.
The Eagles take on Nyack in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader on Thursday on the road. First pitch is at noon.
