Marcus Johnson (Evanston, Ill.) notched a double-double with 16 points and ten rebounds, and classmate
Tyshon Rogers (Waterbury, Conn.) led the Eagles with 23 points, but the Post University men's basketball team dropped a 91-69 game to Goldey-Beacom on Saturday evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game.
The loss puts the Eagles at 8-15 on the season and 5-9 in the CACC.
Post took a 38-37 lead at the half after falling behind 35-23 with 6:10 remaining, but Johnson led the 15-2 run to close out the half by scoring nine of the points. Junior
D.J. Jarrett (Waterbury, Conn.) scored the bookends of the run, starting with a layup at 5:53 and closing out the half with the final bucket at 1:14.
The two teams swapped the lead three times over the first 5:25 of the second half as Kyle Elliot of Goldey made a bucket to give the lightning at 51-50 lead with 14:35 left. It started a 42-19 run the rest of the way for Goldey as the Eagles never regained the lead.
Junior
Savion Boissard (Walden, N.Y.) finished with 12 points off the bench for the Eagles and made both of his three-point attempts.
Corey Taite of Goldey-Beacom (11-12, 9-5 CACC) led all scorers with 37 points and went 5-for-7 from three-point land.
Up next, the Eagles take on Georgian Court at 3 p.m. on February 16 at the Drubner Center.
