Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Chacua Scores Five Goals, But Men's Lacrosse Drops First Game Of The Season To Saint Rose, 14-10

Waterbury, Conn. - Sophomore Carlos Chacua (Norwalk, Conn.) scored five goals, but the Post University men's lacrosse team lost its first game of the season, 14-10 to Saint Rose on Thursday afternoon at LaMoy Field.

After conceding the first two goals to Saint Rose in the first period, Chacua took a pass from classmate Mark Colella (Goshen, N.Y.) to score his second goal of the season at the 5:36 mark. Less than two minutes later, Colella would assist on a second goal, dishing it to junior Jake Bova (Trumbull, Conn.) who scored to tie the game at 2-2. Saint Rose's Carter Badour would score his second goal of the game with 2:50 left in the period to give it the 3-2 lead heading into the second quarter.

The second period didn't start pretty for the Eagles, conceding the first three goals of the period, but Colella got on the board himself at the 5:05 mark to cut Post's deficit to 6-3 at the 5:05 mark. Exactly two minutes later Chacua scored his second goal of the game, and followed it up 27 seconds later with his third goal to make it a 6-5 game.

Early in the third, the Golden Knights took a 7-5 lead, but senior Sean Olsen (Old Bridge, N.J.) scored his fourth goal of the season on another assist from Colella to make it a 7-6 game. Chacua would add his fourth goal of the game at 10:25 to tie the game, 7-7.

The teams would swap the next four goals as junior Corey Auten (Stratford, Conn.) tied the game up at 8-8 before Carols Chacua answered a Saint Rose goal with his fifth goal of the game with 56 seconds left in the period. But Saint Rose's Jordyn Marchiano scored with 15 seconds remaining to give the Golden Knights a lead they wouldn't relinquish again. The Golden Knights added four more goals in the fourth, including two more by Badour to close out the game. Bova added his second goal of the game in the period.

Junior Manuele D'Alessio (Mount Laurel, N.J.) had 15 saves on the day for the Eagles
