Bronxville, N.Y. – The Post University women's basketball team won its fourth straight game and remained undefeated in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play as it defeated Concordia, 73-60 Saturday afternoon.
Juniors Angelica Flores and Taylor Williams each led the Eagles with 16 points apiece and sophomore Sha'Raya Haines ha a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Post now moves to 8-2 overall and 3-0 in the CACC.
After the two teams were tied 4-4, Flores hit a three to give Post the 7-4 lead and started a 12-3 run that gave them a 16-7 lead. They'd end the first ten minutes up, 16-11. Williams also added a three for the Eagles as they shot 7-for-14 from the field in the quarter.
Junior Hannah Benac opened the second quarter with a three-pointer to make it a 19-11 game before the Clippers went on a 6-0 run to make it a 19-17 game. The teams would swap the next ten points, but a three-pointer from Haines at the 4:40 mark started a 14-3 run, capped by a three from Williams to give Post the 38-35 lead. Williams hit two threes in the run. The Eagles led 38-26 at the half.
The Eagles held Concordia to just ten points on 4-for-14 shooting in the third as the Eagles extended its lead to 51-36. Flores hit a three for the Eagles in the period.
Post kept the Clippers at bay in the fourth, as it hit four of its eight free-throws while going 13-for-17 from the free-throw line to seal the game. Flores and Williams each had five points in the quarter and sophomore Katelyn Canlas made four of her six free-throws. The Clippers would get no closer than nine points the rest of the way as the Eagles closed out the period going 6-for-6 from the free-throw line.
Sophomore Katelyn Andres finished with eight points. Canlas had six.
Christina Brown led all Clippers in scoring with 20 points.
The Eagles will be off until 2020 when they take on Holy Family on the road at 1 p.m. on January 4 in a CACC match.
