Waterbury, Conn. – Junior Angelica Flores scored 22 points on 9-for-10 shooting as the Post University women's basketball team easily took care of business in their first win of the season, a 92-38 thrashing of Cheyney University of Pennsylvania.
The 54-point win was the largest win in Post University women's basketball history.
In a blink, the Eagles led 28-2 in the first as sophomore Sha'Raya Haines scored ten of the first 16 points, including two three pointers while Flores scored the last seven of the run to put the Eagles completely in control. They'd lead, 36-10 after the first quarter, and their lead would only get bigger from there.
Post held the Wolves to just four points in the second quarter, while freshman Jimmirah Johnson set the tone, going 4-for-4 from the field in the quarter as the Eagles extended their lead to 56-14 at the half. Post went 24-for-35 from the field, including going 6-for-10 from three.
Freshman Tai Pagan shot a perfect 4-for-4 in the third quarter as the Eagles extended its lead to 46 points at 73-27. Senior Kiana Nichols and sophomore Jaeonna Sutton each hit three-pointers for the Eagles in the quarter. Flores hit her only two three-point attempts in the fourth.
Post (1-1) shot 65.5 (38-for-58) from the field, including 12-for-22 from three-point land.
Pagan and Johnson each finished with 12 points. Haines had ten.
Post will host American International College on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
