Rutherford, N.J.– Junior Elizabeth McGrath had 28 assists and junior Shannon Veale had 12 kills, but the Post University women's volleyball team fell to Felician, 25-18, 25-18, 25-15 on Thursday afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match.
In the first set, the Eagles fell behind 11-5, but put together a 7-3 run to cut the deficit to 14-12 behind two kills from freshman Jayda Roman and two more by Veale. All of the kills during the stretch were assisted by McGrath. However, the Golden Falcons extended its lead back to eight points and held on for the set one win.
After falling behind 5-3 in set two, Post went on a 6-1 run to take a 9-6 lead behind kills from senior Ann Marie Nelson and Roman. The Eagles were also aided by four errors from Felician. The Golden Falcons followed with a 13-3 run to take a 19-12 lead and eventually went up 2-0 in the match.
The third and final set saw the Eagles go on an 8-3 run that cut a 10-4 deficit to a 13-12 deficit, but Felician scored eight of the next ten points and take the match.
Freshman Kim Buttery finished the day with ten digs. Classmate Aniya Goodman finished with seven kills. Roman had six and Nelson had five block assists.
Post will take on USciences on October 26 at 2 p.m. in a CACC match at the Drubner Center.
