Baumgartner's 42 Saves Not Enough As Eagles Lose To Becker, 2-0

Shelton, Conn. - Junior goalkeeper Jenna Baumgartner (Roseau, Minn.) had 42 saves, but the Post University women's hockey team dropped a tough 2-0 decision to Becker on Friday afternoon at the Sportscenter of Connecticut.

The Eagles now sit at 6-15 on the season.

The game looked headed for a scoreless first period, but Becker's Cameron Payne took a pass from Bailey Coons and Katherine Capobianco to give Becker a 1-0 lead at the 19:47 mark. Baumgartner had nine saves in the period.

A scoreless second period saw Baumgartner stop 12 more shots. Her counterpart, Julia Johnson had 16 of her 26 saves in the period.

In the third period, with a man down, Kylian Kelly scored a shorthanded goal at the 15:30 mark for Becker's second goal of the game. Baumgartner doubled her total after two periods in the third period alone with 21 saves.

Sophomore Savanna Stevenson (Winnipeg, Manitoba) and junior Molly Brumfield (Columbus, Ohio) each had five shots to lead the Eagles. Brumfield also won 12 of her 23 faceoffs to lead the Eagles. Sophomore Paige Dundas (La Broquuerie, Manitoba) was 10-for-17 in As a team, Post went 31-28 in faceoffs. 

Post is back in action on Saturday as it hosts Sacred Heart at the Sportscenter of Connecticut at 5 p.m.
